SAMAFEST (the Philippine Cultural Arts Festival) is an annual community festival produced by the Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts & Education Center that celebrates Philippine dance, music, visual arts and food. It takes place on the Presidents Way/Park Boulevard lawns in Balboa Park in San Diego and features regional folk and indigenous dance performances accompanied by SAMAHAN’s rondalla and kulintang ensembles, plus cultural exhibitions, arts-and-crafts vendors, and Filipino cuisine. The festival is notable as a long-running showcase of Filipino cultural heritage and intergenerational arts education in the San Diego community.
